CULTIVATING  THE  FUTURE

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Building-2.gif (50328 bytes)Alpha Omega hopes you will share in our excitement. After 32 years of providing youth programs and performances to the communities of NYC, we will finally have a place to call home. This very special opportunity to co-own a building on East 4th Street in Lower Manhattan has been presented to us at the purchase price of $1 by the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

We are one of several arts organizations located on 4th Street between Second and Third Avenues who are members of Fourth Arts Block (FAB) that will make up the Fourth Street Cultural District. Alpha Omega will share a four-story building with Downtown Art, a youth theater organization. Our office, storage and studio space will be located on the ground floor and Downtown Art will occupy the remaining floors above. We will provide hundreds of NYC youth with year-round free and affordable arts programs. We have also been offered the back lot, which extends to 3rd Street and plan to expand in the future.

Alpha Omega will finally have the opportunity to bring students from our in-school, after-school, and workshop programs together for further training opportunities in a nurturing and professional environment. Our new studio will provide a forum for these young artists to hone their skills and will also provide the company with much-needed permanent rehearsal space. We look forward to the mix of youth oriented training programs with professional classes and workshops.

Our doors are scheduled to open in 2005 after basic renovations are done to the building. Alpha Omega's cost of the initial renovation phase is $200,000 and Downtown Art's cost is $500,000. We are in the midst of our capital campaign to raise these funds.

We hope you share in our excitement and can support our efforts by attending our fundraising events, giving advice or making a donation of any size. We are happy to have such an opportunity to secure our future and the future of the many young people we will serve.
